Summer Studies Application Questions
Here are some of the most common questions we receive about applying to Summer Studies, along with their answers.
The application link isn't working, can you help me?!
Be sure your prefix says https: as in https://apply.tip.duke.edu/.
I wanted to register my seventh-grade student, but could not. Why?
Applications open on March 21 for qualifying seventh-grade students. Only qualifying TIPsters in grades eight through ten can submit applications to Summer Studies right now.
Why won't the system accept my child's TIP ID?
Be sure the information you enter matches the information you used to set up your child's TIP account: are the child's name, the parent's name, and the child's date of birth the same? If that does not help, make sure the address exactly matches what you entered when you first enrolled in TIP. You can also double check that you have the correct TIP ID by using our TIP ID look-up tool. Be sure to use the email address on record with us if you request your TIP ID!
What time do I need to get my application in?
It does not matter what time you apply on any one day; we date stamp but do not time stamp. This means that you can get your application in as late as 11:59 PM on any one day to be considered an applicant for that day.
I am having trouble getting the system to accept my deposit payment, what can I do?
Users have reported some issues with our payment processor when using the Safari browser. If possible, try using Chrome or Mozilla Firefox instead.
How do I know my application was accepted? I do not see it on my completed application list.
Some applicants are experiencing a delay in their 2018 Summer Studies applications showing up on their competed applications list on the student portal. Here is how you know your application was received and counted:
- a confirmation screen saying your application was received popped up after you submitted your application, or
- you received a payment confirmation for your application fee from Cybersource, our merchant processing service.
After a few hours, you should see this year's application on your completed application list. Don't panic if it does not appear. If it is not there within a few hours, contact us and we will look into it for you: call (919) 668-9100 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
