About Scholar Weekends
Scholar Weekends are designed to give academically talented students a short but intensive academic challenge. The advanced coursework allows students to discover potential new majors or careers, many of which aren't available from most local schools. And the community of like-minded peers offers a preview of college classrooms. Combined, these two elements ensure that over the course of just two days, students receive the intellectual rigor that they need and crave.
Scholar Weekends are open to students in grades seven through eleven who are Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search participants, who joined TIP through TIP Option, or who are identified as academically gifted by their local school criteria. (Seventh graders are only eligible for the spring term.)
