Cracking the Enigma

Enigma is one of the most famous ciphers in history. Used by the German military in the second World War, it befuddled analysts around the world because of its mechanized complexity. How did it work? How was it used? And, more importantly, how was it broken? In this course, you will learn how language, mathematics, and cryptology intersected by making a working paper replica of the Enigma cipher machine. Examine how to encrypt and decrypt Enigma messages, and discover the details of how the machine was broken. You will have a hands-on opportunity to crack one of history's most famous puzzles!
