eInvestigators work together in an online learning environment built just for TIP students, but they also interact with elements from the web, with one another, and with new and current technologies.

These guidelines and agreements will help the program community maintain not only safety and integrity, but also a fun and exciting learning environment for all participants.

General expectations

TIP is committed to high academic and social standards for all students participating in our educational programs. Before applying to the program, students should be absolutely certain that they are willing to abide by Duke TIP standards of conduct and to meet or exceed all expectations.

Students are expected to

  • take full advantage of the program’s intellectual and social learning experiences by applying themselves to the best of their abilities and participating fully in program activities;
  • follow all policies, rules, instructions, and guidelines of Duke TIP staff;
  • demonstrate honesty, truthfulness, and fairness, and to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful of other students and Duke TIP staff; and
  • approach Duke TIP’s eInvestigators Program with a strong sense of personal responsibility for their own learning and conduct, as well as a willingness to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions.

Students also must agree to the Community Standard and Digital Citizenship Agreement.

eInvestigators is a month-long online program for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders that takes place each year in the spring, summer, and fall. Using leading-edge instructional technology, participants collaborate with a small group of classmates and an expert Lead Investigator to collect clues about a real-life mystery, analyze evidence, and propose theories.
