Program dates

Duke TIP will offer three different one-week sessions of CRISIS at five different locations. The program dates are the same at each of our five sites (except for an additional session at one site), and students may participate in only one session.

Travel and distance

Families are responsible for checking their students in at the program site on arrival day and checking them out at program close. Get the details in the Travel to Site section.

Many families combine the trip to a Duke TIP CRISIS site with their family vacation.

Agnes Scott College

Decatur, Georgia

Located minutes from downtown Atlanta, Agnes Scott College is an independent private women’s college in Decatur, Georgia. Known for its diverse and dynamic intellectual community, Agnes Scott currently enrolls 915 students and offers 34 undergraduate majors and 31 minors. The college’s signature program SUMMIT provides every student, regardless of major, with an individualized course of study and cocurricular experiences that develop leadership abilities and understanding of complex global dynamics. In its 2017 Best Colleges edition, U.S. News & World Report ranked Agnes Scott the fourth most innovative school among national liberal-arts colleges.

At Agnes Scott College, TIP students stay in one three-story residential building. Students are assigned to double- or triple-occupancy rooms, and each floor shares a hall-style bathroom. Each hall will be single gender.

Belmont University

Nashville, Tennessee

Ranked fifth in the Regional Universities South category and named as a most innovative university by U.S. News & World Report, Belmont University consists of more than 8,000 students who come from every state and more than 25 countries. Committed to being a leader among teaching universities, Belmont brings together the best of liberal arts and professional education in a community of learning and service. The university’s purpose is to help students explore their passions and develop their talents to meet the world’s needs. With more than 90 areas of undergraduate study, 19 master’s programs and 5 doctoral degrees, there is no limit to the ways Belmont University can expand an individual's horizon.

At Belmont University, TIP students stay in one six-story residence hall building. The rooms are suites consisting of two double-occupancy rooms and one shared bathroom. Students share suites with members of the same gender, and if possible, we separate genders by floor.

Eckerd College

St. Petersburg, Florida

Located on 188 acres of pristine waterfront property, Eckerd College is a private college of liberal arts and sciences. Eckerd’s more than 1,800 residential students choose among 38 majors, and nearly 40 percent of Eckerd students pursue advanced degrees. Eckerd College is one of only 40 colleges featured in the trusted resource Colleges That Change Lives and has been named one of the most wired campuses in the nation by PC Magazine.

Meredith College

Raleigh, North Carolina

Meredith College is one of the largest independent private women’s colleges in the country. Nearly 2,000 students choose from 32 majors, including coeducational graduate programs in business, nutrition, and education. In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked Meredith third among colleges in the South, and Forbes magazine placed Meredith among the top 20 percent of colleges in the country. Located in vibrant Raleigh, Meredith’s 225-acre campus is a peaceful sanctuary in the middle of the city.

Southwestern University

Georgetown, Texas

Southwestern University is an independent, four-year, undergraduate national liberal-arts college located in Central Texas, just north of Austin. One of only 280 institutions to have a prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society chapter, Southwestern offers its 1,500 students 38 majors and seven preprofessional programs. Southwestern is recognized as one of 40 Colleges That Change Lives and was recently ranked the top national liberal-arts college in Texas by Washington Monthly based on contributions to the public good.
