Registration for the PSAT 8/9 closed on January 6, 2020.

New 4th–6th Grade Talent Search members

Only 4th–6th Grade Talent Search participants can register for the PSAT 8/9 through Duke TIP, so if you are not yet a talent search member, you should start by enrolling. You can follow the instructions in the Getting Started section. New students have the opportunity to enroll in the talent search and register for the PSAT 8/9 at the same time.

Cost and financial aid

The PSAT 8/9 requires a nonrefundable $42 fee. Financial aid is available on a first-come, first-served basis for students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Find more details and instructions.

The timeline

Registration opens September 16 for current members and October 1 new members.

Monday, 1/6/2020

Deadlines are midnight eastern time.

Some test centers reach capacity before the deadline, so we recommend registering as early as possible.

Make-up days have been scheduled for Saturday, February 29, and Sunday, March 1, if a test center closes due to inclement weather.

Look up your test center

Though it’s not required, we strongly recommend that you select a second test center when registering—if your first choice is full, you will be assigned to your second choice.

Please note that internet privacy laws restrict students who are under thirteen from creating College Board accounts. This means that the College Board online score portal, including the detailed score report and other online services, will not be available to 4th–6th Grade Talent Search students. Students will only receive a printed PSAT 8/9 score report in late April at the home address listed on the test registration.

If you have a question about registering your student for testing, send us an email at Be sure to include your child’s name and your student’s TIP ID, if you have one.
