There are two ways to enroll in the Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search:

Complete the paper enrollment form, which you can receive from your school or by sending a request to firstname.lastname@example.org (be sure to include your US mailing address in the body of the email!). Mail the form with the appropriate fee (check or money order) payable to Duke University to:

An email address is required for enrollment using both options. If you enroll online, you will immediately receive access to your test day information. If you enroll by paper, you will receive a follow-up packet in the mail within five weeks of enrolling.

*Summer Programs—Because summer programs fill quickly, testing after February may preclude a student from participating the summer after seventh grade. However, students who test after February and achieve a qualifying score will remain eligible to apply in future summers. Once eligible, always eligible! **Recognition Ceremonies—Students must take the ACT or SAT by the end of March to receive an invitation to attend a recognition ceremony, should they achieve a qualifying score. Duke TIP does not receive scores from tests taken after March in time to invite eligible students to ceremonies. However, students who test after March and achieve a qualifying score will be mailed a medal in the summer.
If you have not yet enrolled in the 7th Grade Talent Search but have already taken the ACT or SAT independently
Part of the talent search enrollment fee covers the ACT or SAT test registration, so if you are a seventh grader in the 2017–2018 school year and have already taken or scheduled a time to take the ACT or SAT independent of TIP, you should follow our 2Step enrollment process instead of the standard one. The 2Step process requires a paper enrollment form; to receive that information, please email us at email@example.com and include your US mailing address in the body of the email.
If you follow the 2Step process, you will be able to use the ACT or SAT scores you already have for TIP benefits. You do not need to test again.
You will receive your ACT or SAT admission ticket (from the testing agency), as well as certain talent search benefits, at the contact information we have on file, so please be sure to keep it updated when you change your address. If you need to change it, use our student update form.
Students qualify for the 7th Grade Talent Search by scoring at or above the 95th percentile on a grade-level standardized test. Enrollment provides benefits that last through the end of high school, including the opportunity to take the ACT or SAT, specialized publications, college prep advice, and access to educational programs.
