eInvestigators Instructor

eInvestigators Instructors are responsible for updating and teaching challenging and high- engagement courses for academically gifted students using the Canvas learning management system and other selected instructional technology tools. The curriculum offers academic challenge, collaborative online interactions, and a “case” for students to pursue using investigative reasoning, research skills, and science or history knowledge. The instructor will deliver four weeks of online learning activities (four hours of student work per week).

Job Duties

  • Respond to TIP staff, parent and student phone or email inquiries and messages within 24 hours during the summer term and within 48 hours during the pre-term and post-term

  • Monitor student activity on the course web site on a daily basis

  • Award badges to students for demonstrating certain skills

  • Facilitate two weekly offers of live session interactions and hold one weekly office hour

  • Provide weekly video feedback.

  • Stay in regular email communication with students and parents as needed throughout the four weeks

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Educational Requirements

A bachelor’s degree and five years of online or face-to-face teaching experience with academically gifted students. Strong writing skills and communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of LMS, the Cloud (Google apps), presentation software, and other software applications

  • Proficient in current teaching practices and instructional technology

  • Online teaching experience, including facilitation of live web conferencing sessions, or online instructional design experience

  • The ability to engage gifted students fully in an online experience

  • Collaborative, flexible, innovative, and the ability to meet frequent deadlines
