EXPLORE Test
2010 EXPLORE Testing
Duke TIP 4th/5th Grade Talent Search students can learn more about their academic talents by taking the EXPLORE test. The EXPLORE test was developed by ACT for 8th graders to evaluate their academic development in English, math, reading, and science. Duke TIP offers EXPLORE to academically talented elementary students as an above-level test to assess the student’s academic level and potential. Students who participate will be able to compare their scores to 8th grade students across the country as well as other 4th/5th Grade Talent Search testers.
Only those students who are currently enrolled in the Duke TIP 4th/5th Grade Talent Search and are currently in the 5th or 6th grade are eligible to register for EXPLORE testing. You must include your TIPID number (a 10-digit number beginning with 2008 or 2009) on the registration form. Your TIPID can be found on any materials sent to you from the Duke TIP 4th/5th Grade Talent Search and is also located on the bottom left-hand side of the 4th/5th Grade Talent Search Merit Certificate you received upon enrollment. If you cannot locate your TIPID or are unsure of your TIPID number, please call (919) 668-9100, and we will be happy to assist you.

In an effort to make EXPLORE testing accessible to students with disabilities, accommodations may be approved for students with professionally diagnosed physical mental, sensory, or learning disabilities who provide appropriate documentation.
To request special accommodations for EXPLORE testing you must complete both of the following:
- Registration for EXPLORE, and
- Application for EXPLORE ESTS Test Accommodations. Return the special accommodations application to ACT Test Administration at the address listed on the bottom of the application. Do not return the EXPLORE ESTS Test Accommodation form to Duke TIP.
