7th Grade Talent Search Benefits
As a participant in the 7th Grade Talent Search you will receive the following benefits:
Above-Level Testing Experience
The knowledge and experience gained from taking an above-level test like the SAT or ACT is invaluable. When gifted students are already excelling on tests designed for their grade, above-level SAT or ACT testing provides helpful insight into their academic abilities and allows them to effectively plan for high school and beyond. Additionally, these testing experiences give 7th graders the opportunity to preview the same test they will face during the college admission process.
Tools to Interpret Scores
The Results Summary allows families to interpret students' performance relative to other 7th graders throughout Duke TIP’s 16-state region and it provides suggestions for academic development based on performance.
Special Recognition
In addition to receiving a certificate recognizing their participation, students with outstanding scores will be honored for their achievements.
Educational Opportunity Guide Online (EOGO)
The EOGO is a searchable online directory containing listings for more than 400 quality schools and summer programs for academically gifted students.
Talent Search Resources
Through their 10th grade year, students and parents will receive helpful information on gifted students’ educational development and college planning. Students will learn about their potential, receive tips on planning for high school, and have access to resources that will assist them in achieving their educational goals.
Duke Gifted Letter
