EXPLORE® Test: Above-Level Testing
The ACT EXPLORE is no longer offered as an above-level test for Duke TIP 4th-6th Grade Talent Search participants. In August, Duke TIP will offer the PSAT™ 8/9 as an optional, above-level test to our 4th-6th Grade Talent Search participants.
2015–2016 EXPLORE Testers
In November, January, and February over 8,200 participants in the 4th–6th Grade Talent Search took the EXPLORE test. This eighth-grade exam serves as an optional above-level test for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in the talent search. The test results and additional explanations about the outcomes give parents and students helpful insights into each student’s academic abilities. Testing also allows students to compare their scores with their own academically advanced peers as well as with eighth graders.
All EXPLORE testers should have received their score reports by now. Contact ACT at (319) 337-1369, no later than June 1, if you have not received your report.
Honor and Recognition
TIP EXPLORE testers who achieved a composite score at or above the 99th percentile are honored for their outstanding accomplishment at a state recognition ceremony in May or June. Invitations were mailed in April. This year, 364 students who took the EXPLORE test earned a composite score in the 99th percentile or higher and received an invitation to attend one of our state recognition ceremonies.
