Nomination and Selection Process for Duke TIP in India

Nomination Process

Duke TIP currently works with over thirty schools across seven cities in India, including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Mussorie. Students are nominated by their schools. They are chosen based on several criteria, including high performance on a standardized examination, rank in class group, counselor/headmaster recommendation, personal essay and proficiency of English.

Selection Process

" TIP was amazing and exhilarating and no one should turn down the offer. More than just academics are taught there. It was an awesome experience.”

Duke TIP selects students using a rigorous and holistic approach. The selection committee takes into account the student’s academic performance, ability, and potential to thrive in a fast-paced, university-level environment. The committee recognizes that there are not enough spaces currently in our TIP in India program, but plans to expand in the future and offer alternative ways to engage with Duke TIP for nominated students. One way we plan to do this is through Duke TIP’s e-Studies Program

Scholarship and Program Fees

Each student selected to participate in Duke TIP in India will receive a Duke TIP scholarship that will cover the majority of the program costs. Students from families who meet certain income criteria may be eligible for full Duke TIP scholarships. Details regarding this and well as the required program fees and scholarships will be posted when available.

In 2009, Students who are selected and participate in the Duke TIP in India automatically receive a Duke TIP Scholarship, worth over $2,500, to help cover part of the program fees to attend the three-week program.

In addition to the scholarship, the required program fee for the 2009 Duke TIP in India is $1,000, unless otherwise reduced or waived based upon the family’s financial need. Families who demonstrate high or moderate financial need may apply for full or partial financial aid to help cover the required program fee of $1,000.
